HISTORY AND EVOLUTION
Polaris industries was founded in the small town of Roseau, Minnesota in 1954 by Edgar Hetteen, Allan Hetteen and David Johnson. The company was based on innovation to meet the needs of the local people.This company was shaped by visionaries who turned their dreams into outstanding products and experiences. This continuous product innovation has made Polaris, what it is today.
The men who built the first Polaris snowmobile never claimed they invented the snowmobile. Others across the snowbelt were also trying to develop motorized snow machine. What the Polaris staff did, though, was to build a snowmobile that really worked. It could traverse rugged terrain.The first Polaris snowmobile rolled out of the Roseau shop and onto the snow in January 1956. The large machine was primarily build by David Johnson, Paul Knochenmus and Orlon Johnson, who was the first person ever to ride a Polaris snowmobile.
Polaris really got things rolling in 1985 when the company introduced its first ATV (All-Terrain Vehicles).

The company's snowmobiles and racers are winners.With independent front suspension (IFS), it's also the leader in innovation.Polaris innovations such as effective liquid-cooled engines and IFS were first used on race sleds.

Polaris has always been a company that provided solutions. In 1998, Polaris introduced the RANGER®, which provides the ideal solution for people who want a utility vehicle that can haul lots of gear and carry two or three riders.The RANGER® made its debut as a hard-working, smooth- riding utility with Polaris-exclusive On-Demand 6-wheel drive, a rear cargo box and side-by-side seating for two adults. The RANGER® has provided countless solutions for hunters, farmers, ranchers, homeowners who like to work their land and outdoors enthusiasts in general.Polaris invited the riders onto the open road with Victory, "The New American Motorcycle". It had been more than 60 years since an American manufacturer had introduced a brand new road-going motorcycle, but Polaris did it with Victory. The powerful Victory cruiser made its debut at Planet Hollywood at the Mall of America in 1997. The Victory V92C was an immediate award winner as Cycle World magazine's "Best Cruiser of 1998".
With the acquisition of Indian motorcycles-the first American motorcycle, Polaris brings its world-class engineering, manufacturing, and distribution capabilities to an iconic American brand. With this Polaris brings the legendary Indian bike back on roads.Adding GEM (Global Electric Motorcars) battery-electric vehicles. Polaris portfolio not only represent a relatively new vehicle in an emerging market segment, but also a growing brand within Polaris. GEM models are sophisticated yet simple. They symbolize a new kind of personal transportation that expands the capacity to have fun.
Under the leadership of Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Polaris vehicles made its India entry with the launch of Polaris ATV, Ranger® and RZR® - Side-by-Side vehicles and Snowmobiles at a grand launch by Polaris India Pvt.Ltd. on 24th August, 2011 followed by Indian Motorcycle launch on 22 January, 2014.
